WhatsApp continues to innovate and, as part of its evolution, it incorporated a new function that allows you to share music directly in the statuses, making it easier for users to show their favorite songs in a more dynamic, personal and close way. This update integrates sounds, songs and musical fragments without having to leave the application, making the states more expressive and emotional.
So that you can make the most of this new feature, we explain how the new option to share music in WhatsApp statuses works and how to activate it.
COLLABORATION WITH SPOTIFY AND THE META MUSIC LIBRARY
The new feature comes thanks to an official collaboration between WhatsApp and Spotify, in addition to the use of Meta’s music library, which eliminates the need for improvised recordings or external tricks to add music.
The rollout is being carried out gradually on Android and iOS devices, and is available to both free and Premium Spotify users. The objective is clear: to bring the experience of WhatsApp statuses closer to popular formats such as Instagram stories.
WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC CONTENT CAN BE SHARED?
Thanks to the integration with Spotify, users can share:
- Songs
- Albums
- Playlists
- Podcasts
- Audiobooks
When you publish a musical status, WhatsApp generates a visual card with the cover of the content, its title and a direct link to Spotify. In addition, an audio fragment of approximately 15 seconds is added, which can be played within WhatsApp, facilitating musical discovery without changing platforms.
HOW TO POST MUSIC IN WHATSAPP STATUS FROM SPOTIFY?
The process is simple:
- Open the Spotify application.
- Choose the desired song, album or content.
- Tap the “Share” option.
- Select “WhatsApp Status”.
Before publishing, the user can customize the layout, choose the background image and define the exact fragment of the audio that will be heard. Like any status, content remains visible for 24 hours.
ALTERNATIVE FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT USE SPOTIFY
For those without Spotify, WhatsApp offers an additional option through its own integrated music library, managed by Meta.
From the status editor, it is possible to search for songs, select a fragment and add it to photos or videos, with visual customization options and, in some cases, synchronized lyrics. Music clips can be up to 15 seconds in images and up to 60 seconds in videos.
AVAILABILITY AND TEMPORAL OPTIONS
Although the feature is already rolling out, some users still do not have it enabled. In these cases, there are alternative methods, such as:
- Record a video while music plays in the background.
- Use voice statuses to share audio clips.
However, these options do not offer the visual benefits or direct integration of the new tool.
PRIVACY AND COST OF FUNCTION
Music shared in statuses respects the usual WhatsApp privacy settings: it is only visible to authorized contacts and disappears after 24 hours. Additionally, a paid subscription is not required to use this feature.
WHATSAPP COMMITS TO A MORE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE
With this update, WhatsApp reinforces its social facet and expands the possibilities of expression, allowing users to share not only moments, but also emotions through music, consolidating states as an increasingly creative and interactive space.
